I now that's a crazy question to ask. Are you a Human Being? However, in the wellness arena, we find ourselves doing a lot and just being very little. If I'm honest most days, I'm a human doing. What I find most helpful in my endevor to just be is developing a morning routine that involves being mindful and experienceing stillness before I start doing anything. What does a mindfulness routine look like? I can't tell you what to do but I will share what my morning mindfullness routine looks like.

Upon waking, I grab my meditation cushion and spend 10-20 minutes in meditation. Sometimes using a recorded guided meditaiton and other times just music or ocean sounds. Next, I do some gentel stretching or yoga to activate the mind body connection. Then I may journal or practice affirmations and set my intentions for the day. It takes between 25-45 minutes to complete this morning ritual and sets me up for experiencing a great day. One in which I try to remain present and in touch with who I am and why I came to the planet. I''m typically more productive throughout the day inspite of taking time to be intentional in what I'm chosing to do.
There have been times when I went to bed late, slept thorugh my alarm and didn't have time to complete my full ritual. I hurridly got dressed and ran out the door. When this happens, I notice that I never ever "catch up" with the day. I'm busy running and doing all day and its not until I get home and take a moment to reflect on the day that I realize how important it is to start the day in peace and tranquility.
Here's a Few Tips to Create Your Own Routine
Choose a Bed Time: Great mornings begin with great sleep. Try to get upwards of 7 hours of sleep everynight.
Wake Up Early: This routine requires alone time and so its better to get up before the rest of house gets up. This is especially important if you have little people in your home.
No Phones Allowed: Let your phone be the last thing you look at in the morning. Anything that happened while you were sleeping can wait until after you complete your routine.
I hope this post has inpired you to think about what it means to be a human being as opposed to a human doing. May you discover the power in stillness and the strength in knowing yourself.
